Why is a diagnosis of dyslexia helpful?

A diagnosis of dyslexia can help children to understand why they might struggle with reading, writing, and spelling and that their difficulties are due to a specific learning difficulty.

It can enable the child to receive extra support in school and eventually in the workplace. This might include extra time for exams.

The assessments provide a detailed profile of your child’s strengths and weaknesses in relation to their cognitive and literacy skills.
A diagnosis of dyslexia will deepen a child’s understanding of how dyslexia might affect their overall learning and, with the right support, it can help them to develop their study skills and self-esteem.

Ultimately, a dyslexia diagnosis is an important step towards ensuring your child receives the support and resources they need to succeed academically and to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
